One of ELPA21’s top priorities is to provide high-quality professional development opportunities and resources to all English language learner (ELL) teachers, content teachers, and administrators who support ELLs so that their students can experience the full benefits of the English Language Proficiency (ELP) Standards and the ELPA21 assessment system.
ELPA21’s Professional Development (PD) Task Force worked with EL experts and educators from ELPA21 states to develop materials and guidance to be used in group trainings and accessed by individual teachers. The resulting comprehensive toolkit consists of 6 online training modules that focus on classroom implementation of the ELP Standards: Module 1 - Introduction; Module 2 - Task Analysis; Module 3 - ELP Standards; Module 4 - Performance Level Descriptors; Module 5 - Formative Assessment; and Module 6 - Reflection. The modules address topics for both ELL and content teachers, including ELP Standards implementation, English language application, and students’ understanding of language and content. The modules are copyrighted; see below.
