Deborah La Torre is an associate research scientist at CRESST specializing in research methodology. Her work focuses on how formative and summative assessments can strengthen teaching and learning, with particular interest in cognitive complexity as a driver of deeper learning. She also conducts program evaluations, especially in pre-service and in-service teacher education. Before joining UCLA, Deborah taught at both the elementary and higher education levels, experience that continues to inform her research and evaluation practice.
